So I mentioned in yesterday’s blog we were very concerned about the storm that was brewing off the shores of Lake Erie. The lyrics to the Gordon Lightfoot song “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” definitely apply to Lake Erie even though the song was written about Lake Superior. “The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead when the skies of November turn gloomy”.
Last year the storm hit October 30th/31st. This year the storm hit November 15th. The Lake which can be as calm as glass most of the summer becomes a vicious monster capable of so much damage in the fall.
No words....
All of the landscaping below the pool is gone.
The pool cover is ripped and is being drained. The flagstone pieces are missing from the water feature on the pool. The water level seems to have been higher this year than last year. The flagstone steps to the Lake are broken...and the worst part is we feel so helpless that we are not at home to do anything about it. Thank goodness for good friends who are looking out for us and helping to coordinate getting the immediate issues like the pool cover taken care of.
The good news is our house didn’t lose any shingles and the water levels never get as high as the house, so the basement did not flood.
We understand a lot of people are in worst situations that we are since our damage is all outside. It is still disheartening to know we will be coming home in the spring to clean this mess up.
Are you kidding me!!!! That's terrible. I feel so bad for you guys! Go buy a lottery ticket. You're due for some major Good Luck for a change. Be well!!!
